Greetings,
I FINALLY invested in a decent set of monitors for my ragtag studio. By word-of-mouth I learned of Samson's Media ONE series of monitors, and I chose the 4a model. I am quite impressed with the quality of sound they produce.
While testing them out, I chose both commercial songs and my own productions. I can now tell that my bass has been too prominent in my tracks. My previous monitoring system did a poor job at reproducing the bass correctly, so I had always overcompensated.
Currently, I am torn between remixing and mastering my earlier tracks and creating new productions. I have started a new project in Ableton Live - another electronic dance track - but I have plans to work on new projects that are outside of the electronic dance music genres.
Hopefully my next release will demonstrate my ability to mix with professional monitors. Wish me luck!
Best,
Shan

Welcome to My Studio Blog
Greetings,
My name is Shannon McDowell, and I am a student at Full Sail University Online in the Music Production program. Between assignments I produce various genres of electronic dance music. I plan to expand the genres I showcase on my SoundCloud page, but for now you can hear my latest EDM productions.
As an experiment, I want to blog my experiences as I produce new tracks. Music production seems to be a bit of an esoteric subject for most, as the blank stares tell me whenever I tell people of my studies and of my productions. Perhaps I can help to shed some light on the practices I employ with my work.
Thank you for visiting!
Best,
Shan
